Deployment/Requirements

Remote360 Connector

  • The Remote360 Connector requires a BlackBerry smartphone device with OS 4.3.0 or greater.
  • The Remote360 Connector can be deployed in three different ways:
    • From the BES by adding the Remote360 Connector as a required application in a Software Configuration.
    • From a web link by posting the Remote360 Connector installer files on a web server.
    • Using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager with the device connected using a USB cable.
  • The Remote360 Connector requires that several Application Permissions are granted. Depending on your organization’s Application Control and IT Policies, additional permissions may need to be granted from the BES including:
    • Keystroke Event Injection
    • Screen Capture
    • Security Idle Timer Reset
    • Phone Access (optional to allow retrieving phone
    • number)
    • Network Access
  • Following installation, users access the Remote360 Connector by an icon on their smartphone’s desktop.

Remote360 Server

  • For each of an organization’s BlackBerry Domains, an instance of the Remote360 Server is required.
  • The Remote360 Server is a stand-alone java application. It may be deployed on any Windows or UNIX server OS with the following requirements:
  • Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.5.x or greater
  • Minimum 512MB RAM (2 GB recommended)
  • Minimum 1 GHz processor (dual-core 2 GHz recommended)
  • Inbound TCP/IP access on port 6601* from:
    • The BES for MDS connections
    • The Internet for Direct TCP and external Wi-Fi connections
  • Inbound TCP/IP access on ports 8080* and 6602* from any computer that will access the Remote360 Admin Console
  • Inbound TCP/IP access on port 80* to enable devices to download the Remote360 Connector directly from the Remote360 Server using their devices’ web browsers
  • A locally installed web browser for configuring the Remote360 Server via its web interface
*All Remote360 port numbers are configurable. The values shown for all represent the default configuration.

Remote360 Admin Console

As of version 1.2.0 of the Remote360 Server, the Remote360 Admin Console is served up from the Remote360 Server by an embedded web server. Therefore, deployment and installation requirements are covered by those listed under the Remote360 Server.

For the end-users of the Remote360 Admin Console, the requirements are:
  • A web browser with a Flash plug-in version 9.0.124 or higher installed
  • Access to the Remote360 Server over ports 8080* and 6602*
